NASEM Summit to Prevent Harassment Open to Public

The Third Annual Public Summit on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) is open to the public for the first time ever this year as a virtual event. NASEM’s Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education creates an active space for leaders from academic and research and training institutions. USC is a founding member of the Action Collaborative, and since September 2020, USC’s Working Group has been co-chaired by Catherine Spear, Vice President for EEO-TIX and Title IX Coordinator, and Dr. Parveen Parmeer, who also co-chairs Keck School of Medicine’s Center for Gender Equity in Medicine and Science.

The Action Collaborative seeks to identify and promote effective approaches for addressing and preventing sexual harassment that move beyond basic legal compliance. The annual summit will bring together collaborative members, the broader higher education community, sexual violence and harassment researchers, sexual harassment response practitioners, grassroots and nonprofit organizations, public and private foundations, and federal and state policy makers. The virtual event is co-hosted by Duke University and will include panel discussions, presentations, and open sessions. More information about the summit and how to register can be found on its site.
