The University will be holding a special event in honor of Juneteenth, a day of celebration to symbolize the end of slavery in the United States that is also known as Freedom Day. The online event will occur on Saturday, June 19 at 12 p.m. on Zoom and will feature a program that honors the intellectual, political and cultural contributions of Black Americans with poetry, music and dance. The event is open to the entire campus community.
There are also many different Juneteenth events being held throughout Los Angeles in conjunction with the June 19 date. Be sure to check out a calendar of events from Black Cultural Events for more information.
