Crisis Services Volunteers Sought

YWCA Seeking Volunteers to help victims of sexual assault

The YWCA Greater Los Angeles Sexual Assault Crisis Services is looking for volunteers for its Sexual Assault Crisis Services (SACS) program. Volunteer Advocates assist (remotely) with the intake of calls from a 24-hour crisis hotline operated by YWCA and/or they may accompany survivors of sexual assault (in-person) being treated at a SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) hospitals as they undergo a forensic exam. Volunteers are also considered ambassadors of the YWCA GLA Sexual Assault Crisis Services and assist in educating the community about the emerging issue of sexual violence.

All volunteers must complete a 56-hour Sexual Assault Certification Training before becoming a Certified Sexual Assault Crisis Advocate. The next training will be hosted from February 28 to April 20, 2023. Training will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 pm – 9:30 pm via zoom. Check out the YWCA website to learn more and sign up!
